Desde la antigüedad, el haya ha sido el combustible común para secar al fuego los alimentos en Europa central y para la malta de “Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier”, es abundante en los bosques alemanes, tiene un alto rendimiento energético y un aroma ahumado agradablemente intenso. Sin embargo, el roble, con una nota ahumada más suave y compleja, rara vez se utilizaba como leña. A diferencia del haya, el roble es muy resistente a las plagas y al clima y, por lo tanto, era una madera valiosa. Aparte de los edificios, los barcos solían estar hechos principalmente de madera de roble. Las bellotas eran un importante forraje para los animales y, en tiempos de dificultad, también eran necesarias para alimentar a los humanos. Siendo tan valioso, hornear con roble era una especialidad poco común y su ahumado fino y de múltiples capas un placer único. “Schlenkerla Oak Smoke” se elabora siguiendo esta tradición.

Un doble bock para Navidad con una nota ahumada única. La malta se hornea con fuego de leña de roble, a diferencia de la malta ahumada convencional que se hornea con fuego de leña de haya. Amargor: 40

Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier tradicionalmente se hornea con madera de roble.

El Oak Smoke Malt resultante tiene una nota ahumada más suave y con más capas que el Beech Smoke Malt intensamente aromático. Por tanto, el ahumado complejo en “Schlenkerla Oak Smoke” se combina con el amargor multifacético de los mejores lúpulos aromáticos Hallertau. Con un 8% de alcohol y un color ámbar, madura durante meses en las profundas bodegas de la cervecería debajo de Bamberg para convertirse en un regalo especial para los amantes de la cerveza ahumada.

Mientras que la madera de haya es la tradicional para esta función y se usa tradicionalmente para el clásico Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier, en esta Doppelbock ahumada, la malta se seca (y ahuma) con madera de roble.
Posteriormente es envejecida en barricas de roble. Una delicia para paladares exigentes.
